•  Le Palais des Rois de Majorque (6 Miles) - The city's most importnant monument. Built at the end of the 13th century and home to count Jaume I of Majorca. Interest include the main courtyard, the keephouses, the chapels, the old throne room and a tower that offers a fantastic view.
•  Castillet (6 Miles) - The redbrick building from the 14th century is a combination gateway and fortress. It houses the museum, which contains exhibitions of Catalán regional artifacts and folkloric items. You can climb the tower for a fantastic view.
•  Château de Salses (15 Miles) - North of Perpignan and built by the Catalans in the early fifteenth century, it was one of the first forts to be designed with a ground-hugging profile to protect it from artillery fire.
•  Canet-Plage and the Côte Catalane (31 Miles) - A 30 minute bus ride from the main city. There are many different things to do, and over 20 beach clubs cast their neon glow on the long sandy beaches of this rollicking town. Inland, the streets are lined with cafés and a daily market.
