• The Town Hall (6 Miles) - The Town Hall, built in 1553, is a Rhenish Renaissance style building with a double staircase. Montaigne, who was in Mulhouse in 1580, described it as a 'magnificent, golden palace' • Saint Etienne's Protestant Church (6 Miles) - St Etienne's Protestant Church is a neogothic structure built by Jean-Baptiste Schacre on the site of the former parish church of St Etienne (16th century). • Museum of Printed Textiles (8 Miles) - This museum relates the history of printed cotton in Alsace and throughout the world. An exceptional collection of fabrics and machinery is on display. Between 1994 and 1996 the museum was entirely reorganised. • The Fortifications (9 Miles) - The 'Tour du Diable' and the 'Tour Nessel' These two towers are the remains of the former Episcopal castle. The Tour du Diable (the Devil's Tower) became part of the city walls after the destruction of the castle.
